Description
Assisted Living Administrators (5)Â appointed by the Governor from three names for each position submitted by the Assisted Living Association of Alabama. Members shall be duly licensed by the Board.
Consumer Members (2)Â appointed by the Governor. One consumer member shall be 65 years of age or older and no consumer member, or a spouse or immediate family member of a consumer member, shall be a licensee of the Board or be employed in the assisted living profession. Consumer members shall vote in all matters except licensure or discipline of licensees or applicants.
Executive Director appointed by the chair of the board with the consent of the members of the board. The executive secretary is the only employee of the Board.
Legal Counsel appointed by the Attorney General’s Office
Nursing Home Administrator (1)Â appointed by the Governor from three names submitted by the Alabama Nursing Home Association, Inc.
Physician (1)Â appointed by the Governor from three names submitted by the Medical Association of the State of Alabama. Member shall be licensed under the laws of the state and actively concerned in a practice with the care of chronically ill and infirm, aged patients.
The Alabama Ethics Law prohibits the following conditions at regulatory agencies:
- An employee is licensed by the agency and uses the license in association with a business regulated by the agency (unless specifically allowed by law)
- An employee either is or has a family member who is an officer, owner, partner, board of director member, employee, or holder of more than five percent of the fair market value of a business regulated by the agency.
